About

Meet the folks making Printadelphia happen here on Maplewood Mall:

• Marisha Simons, Founder

Printadelphia is the project of Philadelphia printmaker Marisha Simons, an alumna and faculty member of The University of the Arts.

• Donna Globus

Donna first learned letterpress printing as an intern at Bowne & Co., Stationers in New York City in the mid-90s, where she then spent a decade as a volunteer printer and educator. Her interest in book arts intensified through workshops at Penland School of Craft, the Center for Book Arts, and The University of the Arts. Donna then earned an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from UArts in 2010, and spent several years thereafter teaching letterpress on the platen press for the UArts Continuing Education Department.

Recently retired from her career as an architect, construction professional, and property manager, Donna was thrilled to partner with Marisha over the last year to find, plan, and set up Printadelphia’s new space. As a resident of nearby Mt. Airy, Donna is looking forward to plenty of opportunities to print, learn, teach, and enjoy the cameraderie at this incredible new community resource.

• Mike Spangler

Lending web and social media support to Printadelphia, Mike is also a member printmaker, specializing in intaglio collagraphs, screenprinting, and letterpress.

Mike discovered his love of screen printing while in high school in West York, PA; and while studying graphic design at Kutztown University, explored additional forms of printmaking, particularly collagraphy. More recently, he learned letterpress in courses at UArts with Marisha as his instructor.

Mike has spent the past ten years as a member at The Soapbox Community Print Shop & Zine Library in West Philly, and is excited to help Marisha build her new print community in Germantown.
